Looking for a great handyman can be a laborious task at times. You want to make sure you hire a skillful handyman and at the same time you want to know feel safe while they work on mini projects around your home. I’ve been in the business now for over 25 years so I’ve been asked many times, “What are the things to think about when choosing a local handyman in Wellesley?”  Here are the top 4 things to consider:

#1 Trust

Trust is the number factor to think about. Trust comes in many forms—you want to trust that your handyman will be on time, that he’ll get the job done right, that he’ll keep your home clean etc. The best way to build trust is to communicate. A good place to start is to ask your friends who they’ve worked with in the past and if they have any recommendations. Another way is to ask your handyman about his background and get to know them better—where are you from originally? How long have you been in the business? These are great questions to get to know your handyman better.

#2 Experience

As far as other things to think about when choosing a local handyman in Wellesley, you should focus on experience. Experience is key! The last thing you want is to have someone come out to your house and find out they don’t know how to do the type of work you want done. Have they been working as a handyman for many years or are they just getting started? Do they paint? These are great questions to gauge a handyman’s skillset and level of experience.

#3 What type of work do you want done?

Think about the type of work you would like done around the house. Maybe you just moved into your Wellesley home and you’re looking to hang up picture frames, fix a few leaky sinks, and mount your TV’s on the wall. Or, maybe you think its time to remodel the kitchen and get new lighting installed in the master bedroom. Whatever the job, you should have a good idea of the projects you would like done so that you hire the right person for the job. If you want a better breakdown of when you need a handyman vs contractor I have an entire blog post that highlights how to decide between the two.

#4 What's your budget?

Last but not least, another thing you should think about before choosing a local handyman in Wellesley is your budget. Lots of times we might want to get some projects done around the house but we don’t know how much they’ll cost. An easy way to think about this is to give yourself certain benchmarks depending on the size of the project you want done. For example if you want to do something that can usually be done in one visit such as hanging picture frames around the house or maybe mounting a TV on the wall then you should budget around $100-$300 for a day's work. If you’re looking to have a complete kitchen remodel done (a project that will require multiple visits, deciding on proper materials etc) then that will require a larger budget.

These are the top things to think about when choosing a local handyman in Wellesley. Just remember, getting projects done around the house can be really fun and exciting! Communicate with your handyman, explain the project(s) you would like done, have a budget prepared and you’ll be in great shape.

Handymen are in my humble opinion essential members of our community. We fix leaky sinks, mount TV’s on walls, hang picture frames, and overall we’re basically neighborhood superheroes! Ok that might be a little too far, but you get the point, I’m being silly. In all seriousness though, I am very proud of what I do and would like to help answer some common questions.

When it comes to what I call household mini projects they always seem easier than they actually are. Because of that, my job exists. I pride myself in always doing a great job for my clients. I call them clients because after I help them once, they usually call me back to help out again and again. In my 25 years of experience as a local handyman, I’ve found that the short answer to “how much does it cost to mount a TV on the wall in Wellesley?” is it depends. If you’re willing to hear the longer answer, please continue reading, but if you’re not I’ll respect your time and say that it’ll cost 2-3 hours of labor which ranges from $70-$105.

INTRODUCTION:

Remember the days when you’d have to wait a few years for a new TV hit the shelves? In today’s world, it seems like there’s a new TV model every other day, but I digress. The one great thing that came from having these new TV’s (besides the amazing picture quality) is that they can be mounted on the wall! This creates more space in our living rooms and keeps that mess of wires hidden behind the wall, giving our rooms a smooth clutter-free look.

Below are the step by step instructions on how to mount a TV on the wall in Wellesley.
